A 62-year-old Phoenix woman is facing up to 17 1/2 years in prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to fraudulent schemes and artifice and theft.
Cheryl W. Crabtree was arrested in fall 2007 after being accused by the Arizona Attorney General's Office of embezzling more than $200,000 from DKA, a Tucson firm that assists the disabled.
Authorities said Crabtree, who served as a bookkeeper and later chief financial officer for the company, stole the money between July 1992 and December 2005.
The company contracts with federal, state and local governments to provide services to people with physical or mental disabilities in Tucson and Phoenix.
Assistant Attorney General John R. Evans said Crabtree entered her guilty plea in Pima County Superior Court Tuesday morning and agreed to pay up to $534,000 in restitution.
She is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 26 by Pima County Superior Court Judge Hector Campoy.
