A 22-year-old man was killed in a high-speed collision Tuesday evening on the South Side, an official said.
The crash occurred just after 7 p.m. at East 36th Street and South Palo Verde Road when a green Honda being driven eastbound on 36th collided with a white Chevrolet S-10 pickup, said Deputy Dawn Hanke, a Pima County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman.
The driver of the Honda was speeding when the Chevrolet, which was carrying a woman, man and a 5-year-old child, turned left in front of it, she said.
The driver of the Honda, whose name was not released late Tuesday, was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, Hanke said.
The occupants of the Chevrolet were also taken to a hospital as a precaution. They suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
