A 21-year-old Tucson man whose body was found in an East Side lake last month died from an overdose of ketamine, an animal tranquilizer, police said Wednesday.
The death of Cody Busch has been ruled accidental, said Sgt. Mark Robinson, a Tucson Police Department spokesman.
Ketamine is a tranquilizer most commonly used on animals, according to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Web site. The drug — also known as jet, super acid, special "K," green, K and cat Valium — can be injected, consumed in drinks or added to smokable materials.
Busch's body was found on March 7 by men fishing at Lakeside Park, near East Golf Links and South Pantano roads. Their hooks got snagged on a heavy object, and once they pulled it up close enough, they realized it was a body, police said.
Busch's family reported him missing to the Pima County Sheriff's Department on March 1, said Deputy Dawn Barkman, a department spokeswoman.
The car Busch was driving when he was last seen was found at Lakeside Park before he died, Barkman said.
