A Thursday night fire caused more than $250,000 in damage to a South Side chrome-plating business, a Rural/Metro Fire Department spokesman said.
No one was inside the 5,500-square-foot building near East Irvington Road and South Contractor's Way when the fire started just before 8 p.m., said Fire Marshal Willie Treatch.
The fire caused no injuries but it damaged the manufacturing side of Nu-Chrome Plating Inc. The 15 firefighters who responded were able to save the business's office, Treatch said.
It took six minutes to contain the fire.
The cause is still under investigation, Treatch said.
