A former Border Patrol agent was sentenced in Tucson on Thursday to two years of federal probation for harboring an illegal entrant for four years.
Pablo Sergio Berry of Douglas also resigned his position with the Border Patrol, where he was assigned as an agent in Naco, after pleading guilty two months ago to making false statements and harboring an illegal.
Berry, 23, admitted to harboring the woman from 2001 to Feb. 17, 2005, and lied to investigators when he told them Claudia Veronica Vasquez-Banda was a U.S. citizen when he knew she was not, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office.
