Swapping Schools

What's it really like at other schools? Students from Palo Verde, Ha-San, Tucson High and Catalina Foothills discovered some surprises when they traded places for a day.

Tiffany Fleckenstein: From Palo Verde to Tucson High

Tucson High used to have negative gang connotations, and sometimes those connotations are still there. When I visited, that's what I expected. It's not what I found.

Jamie Macias: From Ha:San Prep to Palo Verde

How different would it be going from my school of about 150 students to Palo Verde, a school with well over 1,000? I had to experience it for myself to realize how BIG a difference it would be.

Chandra Roberts: From Tucson High to Catalina Foothills

I didn't know what to expect, but I was nervous abuot visiting Catalina Foothills High, where David Sidi was my guide.

David Sidi: From Catalina Foothills to Ha:San

Five minutes after the bell rang to start school at the all-Native Ha:San High School, I walked into the main office. I had had trouble finding the school, in a former church on East Tenth Street, possibly because I was confused as to why a school primarily for Tohono O'odham students would be situated downtown.
