Residents based at University Physicians Healthcare Hospital at Kino Campus will be able to take part in videoconferences with teaching physicians as they work in rural health centers across Southern Arizona because of a $100,000 grant from insurance provider United Healthcare.
University Physicians Healthcare plans to buy the necessary equipment by next year, spokeswoman Sarah Frost said. The videoconferencing will allow the doctors in training — who do rotations in rural locations — to participate in rounds and supplemental training taking place at Kino Hospital.
The residents based out of UPH hospital focus on rural and community-oriented health care.
