Chandler firm gets missile contract

The U.S. Missile Defense Agency has awarded Orbital Sciences Corp. in Chandler a $15 million contract to make one medium-range target missile, with an option for one similar missile, under a foreign military sales contract for Japan.
Most of the work will be performed in Chandler and is expected to be completed by January 2010, the Department of Defense said in a contract announcement Monday.
Orbital Sciences makes the rocket booster for the Ground-Based Missile Defense system.
