New exec at agency for deaf, blind kids
The Arizona Blind and Deaf Children's Foundation has hired Rita Weatherholt as its new executive director. Weatherholt, who moved to Tucson from Portland, Ore., in 1997, previously served here as executive director of Junior Achievement, as well as Information & Referral Services.
The foundation is separate from the Arizona State Schools for the Deaf and the Blind, but it raises money for the schools as well as for other causes related to blind and deaf children.
Caliber Group makes two appointments
The Caliber Group, a marketing and public-relations firm, had announced two appointments.
The firm hired Maria DelVecchio as interactive department manager. In her new role, she is responsible for planning and implementing online advertising, Web sites and interactive campaigns.
DelVecchio has more than 22 years of graphic design and creative direction experience, working with clients in health care, financial services, development, construction and tourism.
Before joining Caliber, she worked as the creative director for LP&G. DelVecchio also has held positions with the former America West Airlines and the Kottler Caldera Group in Phoenix. DelVecchio holds a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the University of Arizona.
Kathy Paxton also has joined Caliber as accounting manager. Paxton has more than 30 years' experience in accounting and bookkeeping, including her previous work as accounting manager for EXG Enterprises in Tucson.
Paxton has lived in Tucson for more than 20 years and previously was principal of Computing Options, where she helped small businesses set up accounting systems.
Psychiatrist Scott starts own practice
Dr. Michael E. Scott has started his own psychiatric practice, specializing in addiction, at 6280 E. Pima St., Suite 110. The phone number is 241-5499.
Scott was medical director at Sierra Tucson for 14 years. He received a degree in family medicine from the University of Arizona and practiced family medicine for 10 years. Scott then received his psychiatric degree, also from the UA.
Riesgo is sales chief at T.O.P. Marble
T.O.P. Marble has named John Riesgo to the position of director of sales and assistant general manager.
T.O.P., which stands for Tucson Outstanding Products, is a manufacturer providing design and installation of cultured marble and cultured granite.
Tucson native Riesgo began his career with T.O.P. in 1975. In 1997, he left to pursue other interests, and for the past eight years he was sales manager at Accent Products.
In his new position, Riesgo will oversee all T.O.P. sales as well as the sales staff.

The Greater Tucson Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners has announced its 2008-09 officers and board of directors:
