Tucson-based Applied Energetics Inc., a developer of directed-energy systems, has named a former top Marine Corps official to its advisory board.
Retired Lt. Gen. Emil "Buck" Bedard retired from the Marines in 2003 after 37 years of active-duty service, including commands in Vietnam, Iraq and Somalia. He last served as deputy commandant for plans, policies and operations based in Washington, D.C.
Applied Energetics, which recently changed its name from Ionatron Inc., has been trying to sell the military devices designed to defeat improvised explosive devices, a major killer of U.S. troops in Iraq.
