A Carondelet Health Network administrator has accepted the post as president of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
Maricela Solis de Kester will take the helm of the chamber Jan. 2, board chairman Edmund Marquez said today.
"We are very, very excited about Maricela coming on board," he said. "She has a solid background and understanding of what makes this state work."
Solis de Kester currently holds an administrative position at Carondelet.
"We're excited that she's local and has spent eight years in an organization with roots in Tucson," he said.
The top job at the Hispanic chamber has been vacant since July.
Solis de Kester's official arrival in January will coincide with the organization unveiling a new image, Marquez said.
