Project PPEP has established the PPEP Foundation. The PPEP board of directors named five trustees and an executive director to manage the new nonprofit, which will support Project PPEP's human services and rural community development projects. The trustees are Enrique Feldman, John Arnold, Maria Chavez, Humberto Stevens and Benny McCabe. Frank Ballesteros will head the foundation as executive director. He previously was the chief administrative officer for PPEP Microbusiness and Housing Development Corp.

● Glendale will host Super Bowl XLII in 2008 and the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee wants to meet with small businesses. "Emerging Business Workshop: Learn How to Do Business with the NFL" is a free event on Tuesday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale. To register, call 1-480-362-4229.
W. L. Gore & Associates Inc. of Flagstaff announced it will no longer sell products in the plastic-surgery market, including sutures and augmentation materials used in chins and noses. The company said it now will focus on cardiovascular and general surgical specialties with medical products such as vascular grafts and surgical meshes for hernia repair.
● Consumer research from Scottsdale-based In-Stat shows most wireless users carry redundant devices. More than 15 percent of people carry two wireless phones; 80 percent of people who have a camera phone regularly carry their digital camera; 75 percent of SmartPhone users also carry a PDA; and more than 50 percent of users of multimedia phones also carry an MP3 player, according to the research.

● In a sign of a deepening housing slump, two major home builders reported steep declines in new orders and weaker fourth-quarter results. Luxury home builder Toll Brothers Inc. of Horsham, Pa., said Tuesday that home-building revenue fell by 10 percent, and signed contracts were down by 55 percent compared with a year ago. Beazer Homes USA Inc. of Atlanta reported a 44 percent decline in profit as higher revenue was offset by squeezed margins. The company said there was "significant" discounting in most markets. New orders for Beazer fell by 58 percent to 2,064 homes from 4,937 last year, as the housing market continued to slow.
