Cody Ross hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth inning Wednesday night, lifting Las Vegas to a 4-3 victory over Tucson at Cashman Field.
It was the second straight game that the 51s prevailed in the bottom of the ninth. On Tuesday, Las Vegas scored four runs in the ninth for an 8-7 victory. The 51s have won the first three games of the series, marking the first time this season Tucson has lost a series.
Chin-Feng Chen started the ninth with a double off Tucson left-hander Jon Cannon.
Rick Bell followed with a single to right advancing Chen to third before Ross came through with the game-winning hit.
Tucson is 14-12. The Sidewinders will finish the four-game series with a 10:30 a.m. start today in Las Vegas. Andrew Good (2-1 3.00) will start for Tucson against the 51s' Heath Totten (1-2 3.13).
The game will be replayed on KTZR 1450-AM at 7 p.m.
