Pima Community College and Northern Arizona University are teaming up to offer students a more flexible path to earning a bachelor's degree.

The program will be announced Wednesday by Pima Chancellor Roy Flores and NAU President John Haeger at a joint news conference at PCC's Downtown Campus at 10:30 a.m.

The partnership will provide a new 90/30 bachelor-degree program in four areas: bachelor of arts and bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis on public management, and bachelor of arts and bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis on humanities.

The NAU-PCC program is Arizona's first in-state 90/30 program leading to a baccalaureate degree, said Pima spokesman Dave Irwin.

Students will take their first three years, or 90 credits, from Pima instructors and the last year, or 30 credits, from NAU instructors in Tucson.

Pima started a 90/30 partnership with Indiana University for a general studies bachelor's degree in September 2006.

Pima already has partnerships with NAU and the University of Arizona on "2 + 2" programs, which split the time and credits for a bachelor's degree between the community college and the universities.
