MARANA
1 A 37-year-old man was cited on suspicion of driving on a suspended license at 8:03 a.m. Dec. 23 in the 10000 block of West Tangerine Road. A police officer pulled up behind the man's car parked by the side of the road. The man said he did not have a driver's license. A records check revealed his driver's license was suspended. His vehicle was towed away.
2Theft was reported at 10 p.m. Dec. 19 in the 7200 block of West Mesquite River Drive. A resident told police someone took three Christmas reindeer decorations valued at $50 from his front yard. He said the theft happened between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m.
3A 52-year-old man was cited on suspicion of shoplifting and released at 6:56 p.m. Dec. 18 at Fry's, 7870 N. Silverbell Road. An employee told police a security alarm went off when the man left the store. The employee said he was unable to stop the man from walking away. Five bottles of alcohol valued at $199.93 were found in the man's backpack.
4A 1977 Chevrolet truck was recovered at 3:23 p.m. Dec. 18 near North Niobrara Way and West Oasis Road. The truck was found by the side of the road. The truck was reported stolen in Pima County. The owner was contacted but did not want to pick up the vehicle. It was towed away.
PIMA COUNTY
5A man was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence at 3:37 a.m. Dec. 24 at Circle K, 3712 W. Cortaro Farms Road. The man was sleeping in his truck with the engine running and his foot was on the gas pedal. Deputies woke him up and noticed his truck smelled like marijuana. Part of a burned marijuana cigarette was found on top of a tin containing a small amount of marijuana on the center console. He told deputies he did not know how marijuana got inside the canister. He was also cited on possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and released.
6Larceny was reported at 4:16 p.m. Dec. 24 in the 7600 block of North Massingale Place. A resident told deputies someone took everything out of her glove box. She said $3 in quarters were taken. She told deputies nothing else appeared to be missing.
7Theft was reported at 8:46 a.m. Dec. 23 in the 10100 block of North Orange Ranch Road. The owner told deputies his property is up for sale and unoccupied. He said someone took three saddles valued at more than $1,300 from a storage shed. He told deputies he left the gate leading into the property unlocked between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Dec. 22.
8Vandalism was reported at 3:11 p.m. Dec. 22 in the 9400 block of North Crestone Drive. A resident told deputies he had a video recording of a man cutting down the tree valued at more than $150 in his front yard. The video footage shows a man wearing a hooded sweater walking toward the tree at 6:56 p.m. on Dec. 21. The man reappears about one minute later, gets into a car and drives away. According to the report, the tree was cut down with a handsaw or a small power saw.
ORO VALLEY
9Burglary was reported at 5:41 p.m. Dec. 23 in the 9100 block of North Overlook Drive. A resident told police he found his front door ajar and his house ransacked. He said five guns and a diamond ring with a total value of more than $5,800 were taken. He said he had locked the front door but did not lock the security door or activate the burglar alarm.
10 Theft was reported at 10:04 a.m. Dec. 23 in the 900 block of West Leatherleaf Drive. A resident told police the following: Someone rifled through his vehicle and took $5 in loose change on Dec. 18 but he did not report it. He was notified by his bank that someone cashed one of his personal checks for $287.22. He is missing another personal check and the bank closed his account.
11Theft was reported at 3:54 p.m. Dec. 22 at Kohl's, 7785 N. Oracle Road. A woman told police the following: Her son stepped outside of a dressing room for several minutes and left his belongings inside. He found a teenage girl inside the room when he returned. He noticed his iPod and headset were missing from his pants pocket. The girl denied touching his belongings and left the store with an elderly woman in a wheelchair. According to the report, an employee told police they did not have any video surveillance inside the fitting rooms and were unable to find the girl or the elderly woman on any of the security video.
12Fraud was reported at 4:57 p.m. Dec. 18 in the 2300 block of East Stone Stable Drive. A resident told police he discovered several fraudulent charges totalling $340 on his Visa debit card. He said he used the card when he was on a trip in Nicaragua in early December. He told police he checked out the charges and discovered someone used his card number to buy telephone cards over the Internet.
