Question: How big is Crawford, Texas, where President Bush has his ranch?
Answer: The central Texas town is about 18 miles southwest of Waco, 90 miles north of Austin and convenient to Fort Hood. It has a population of 705 and is less than a square mile in size. It has a two-block-long business district with a gift shop, bank, gas station, cafe and beauty parlor. A blinking red stoplight on Main Street is its only traffic signal.
George W. and Laura Bush purchased about 1,600 acres just outside Crawford in 1999. The ranch itself is in an area known as Prairie Chapel. The land includes a canyon and waterfalls. The Bush family renovated an existing farmhouse, built a new home and added a lake stocked with bass.
