1 Fraud was reported at 7:47 a.m. Aug. 12 in the 5400 block of North Indian Trail. A resident told deputies the following: He received a call on Aug. 4 from someone who called him "Grandfather" and sounded like his grandson. The man told him that he was in a traffic accident and needed $2,300 to get himself out of trouble. The man said he was in Chicago and asked him to send a MoneyGram. The resident was unable to get in touch with other family members and sent the money. He found out later that his grandson had not called him. He called MoneyGram and was told the money was picked up in New Jersey.
2 A 2004 Toyota Sequoia was reported stolen at 5:59 a.m. Aug. 9 in the 6800 block of East Calle Luciente. A resident told deputies the vehicle belongs to his company. He said there had been a spare set of keys in the cup holder.
3 Theft was reported at 2:23 p.m. Aug. 7 in the 6100 block of North Pascola Circle. A woman told deputies her father lives at the house and she hired a caregiver for him in 2006. She said she recently began to notice that several items were missing from his house. Among the items stolen were several paintings, several pieces of art, jewelry and a rug. She said she believes the caregiver was responsible for the thefts. According to the report, one ring was recovered at a pawnshop in Tucson.
4 A 2005 Yamaha motorcycle was reported stolen at 7:12 a.m. Aug. 6 at Hilands Apartment Homes, 5755 E. River Road. The owner said the motorcycle was stolen from the parking lot.
5 A 27-year-old woman was cited on suspicion of shoplifting at 2:45 p.m. Aug. 5 at AJ's Fine Foods, 2805 E. Skyline Drive. The manager told deputies an employee saw the woman leave without paying for a bagel and a breakfast burrito at 10 a.m. He said the woman came back at 2:15 p.m. He told deputies she walked out of the store with a cup of soup and a bottle of chocolate milk. He said the woman told him she forgot to pay for the food when he confronted her outside the store. The unpaid amount totaled $15.39.
6 A 2000 Honda Accord was reported stolen at 5:36 a.m. Aug. 5 in the 6600 block of Calle Sin Nombre. The owner told deputies he left his car unlocked and a spare key was in the glove box. He said that his wallet was in the car and that someone fraudulently charged $160 to his debit card.
