Another suspected case of the measles has emerged in Pima County, nearly six weeks after the last confirmed case.
About 11 a.m. Friday, county health officials received a call from a physician in the pediatric clinic at the University Physicians Healthcare Hospital at Kino reporting a possible measles case, said Patti Woodcock, community relations manager with the Pima County Health Department.
"It's not a confirmed case yet; it's still a suspect case," Woodcock said. "We should have the lab results back by the first part of next week."
Health officials took steps to immunize people at the Kino outpatient clinic in case it does prove to be measles.
The health department will also follow up with a list of names of people who may have left the clinic, Woodcock said.
Pima County has had 21 confirmed cases of the measles during the outbreak that began in February.
