Tanque Verde High School students began a tradition Saturday when the school held its first prom.
The 90 or so juniors and seniors enjoyed the glitz and glamour of a classic prom with limos, dancing and music at Pantano Stables, 4450 S. Houghton Road.
"I hope that we started a tradition that grows just like the school grows," said Julie Smith, history teacher and Student Council adviser.
The seniors are members of the three-year-old school's first graduating class.
"It was a lot of work since it was our first prom, but we wanted to make it memorable," Smith said.
Fundraising for the event started at the beginning of the year, Smith said.
Students held car washes, sold coffee and doughnuts and peddled discount coupon books.
"This night is a culmination of all that work," Smith said. "They built up the school, and it's great way to end their high school career."
