Tucson police are asking for the public's help to find at least two men suspected of committing a string of violent bank robberies in little more than a month.
In each of the four robberies, the men went in armed with guns and demanded the employees and customers get on the ground, said Sgt. Fabian Pacheco, a Tucson Police Department spokesman. No injuries were reported.
In all but one incident, the robbers wore ski masks.
"Most bank robbers will just pass notes or verbally demand money, but these are a rare breed," Pacheco said. "The high level of violence they demonstrate to get what they want concerns us."
The first incident occurred Nov. 1 at a Wells Fargo Bank, 7171 E. Tanque Verde Road, when two masked men came in armed with guns, Pacheco said.
Everyone was ordered to the floor. One of the men held the victims at gunpoint while the other jumped over the counter and took an undisclosed amount of money, Pacheco said.
The robbers got away in a silver 2006 Honda Civic, which had been carjacked a day earlier. That car was recovered later, Pacheco said.
The next robbery was committed Nov. 30 at another Wells Fargo branch, 8315 E. Broadway, he said. In that case, one man in a ski mask came in with a pistol-grip shotgun and demanded money.
The robber put the money inside a bag and ran eastbound in an alley.
That was followed by an incident Dec. 12 when a man in a ski mask entered the Tucson Health Care Affiliates Federal Credit Union, 5280 E. Grant Road, with a handgun, Pacheco said. He ordered a teller to give him money and was seen leaving in a blue 2005 Nissan Pathfinder that had been stolen during a carjacking the day before. That vehicle has since been recovered.
The latest robbery came Monday at a Wells Fargo Bank, 1370 N. Silverbell Road, Pacheco said. The robber did not have his face covered in this incident but was armed with a large revolver.
He demanded money from tellers and was last seen heading west on foot. The robber is described as 20 to 30 years old, about 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing 140 to 150 pounds.
Wells Fargo is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for new information leading to an arrest and conviction in each robbery, Pacheco said.
Tucson police believe the robberies are connected.
Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME.
