Gov. Janet Napolitano presented the Critical Path Institute with an Arizona Innovation Award Thursday for its work toward getting medical technologies more quickly to market.
Tucson-based C-Path is deserving of this award because of "their involvement in getting effective pharmaceuticals through the government process," Napolitano said during a stop in Tucson. "They are a red-tape cutter."
C-Path's ability to bring the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, drug companies, and scientists together is "innovative in itself," she said.
C-Path was founded in 2005 as a partnership between the FDA, the University of Arizona, and SRI International, a technology-development firm, to develop a safer, faster way to get drugs and medical devices to market.
