MARANA
1 A theft was reported at 8:21 p.m. July 15 in the 8000 block of North Arcata Drive. A resident told police someone took patio furniture valued at $350 from his truck. He said he'd left the large box of furniture in the back of his truck overnight because it was heavy. He told police it would have taken two people to move the box.
2 Criminal damage was reported at 11:13 p.m. July 14 in the 8500 block of North Sand Dune Place. A resident told police he discovered feces stuck to the wall of his house. He said he thought a neighborhood child might have been responsible. Police talked to the boy, who said he was walking around the neighborhood with two friends. He said one of them defecated in the front yard and threw the feces on the wall. Police were unable to contact the two friends, and the boy was not cited.
3 A suspicious person was reported at 7:13 p.m. July 13 at R & R Pizza Express,13905 N. Sandario Road. An employee called police about a man seated in the restaurant who appeared to be drunk and asleep. According to the police report, he smelled like alcohol and his speech was slurred. The officer helped the man walk to an outside bench and searched him for identification. A set of keys was found, and the officer asked if he had a vehicle. He pointed to a Ford Explorer parked in the lot. He was not cited, and was picked up by his wife.
4 Suspicious activity was reported at 9:59 a.m. July 12 at KC Tack, 3725 W. Ina Road. A man told police he left a saddle in the tack store to be sold on consignment. He said he made a deal with a friend to sell the saddle and went back to the store to get it, but the business had closed and he has been unable to contact the owner.
PIMA COUNTY
5 Indecent exposure was reported at 7:53 a.m. July 15 on the Pima Canyon trail near East Magee Road and North Christie Drive. A woman told deputies she was walking down the trail and saw a man, nude except for shoes and a hat, walking up the trail. She said he was holding his shorts and did not say anything to her. Deputies waited in the parking lot for 20 minutes but the man did not come down off the trail.
6 Fraud was reported at 11:16 a.m. July 13 in the 7400 block of North Mona Lisa Road. A resident told deputies the following: She went to a weeklong seminar last year given by a makeup artist school. The seminar cost $2,000 and she made two initial payments of $500 each. She made the last payment of $1,000 via the telephone. She discovered the school had taken $1,000 out of her bank account in March, and contacted the school's owners. She was told it was a mistake and they would try to refund her money. She contacted one of the owners again, and he said the bank would not let him refund her money but he would keep trying when he got back to New Jersey. She said she has tried repeatedly to contact the owners again but her calls go straight to the answering machine and no one has called her back.
7 Theft was reported at 7:57 a.m. July 13 at Circle K, 5365 N. La Cholla Blvd. The manager told deputies the following: A woman asked for $10 worth of gasoline. She went outside and pumped the gasoline into her car. She came back inside saying she needed more gas but wanted to use a different pump. She was told she would have to pay the $10 and pay for the extra gas. She said she did not have time and had to get to work. She refused to pay the $10 and left. Police were given a security videotape of the woman.
8 A 2002 Dodge Intrepid was reported stolen at 5:36 a.m. July 13 in the 6300 block of North Barcelona Lane. The owner told deputies the car was locked and he has the only set of keys.
ORO VALLEY
9 A police officer pulled over a gold Mercedes-Benz with a broken tail light at 10:04 p.m. July 18 in the 11100 block of North Oracle Road. Six people got out of the car and ran away. Police were unable to find anyone and could not get the trunk open. The car was towed to a holding yard in Tucson. The Oro Valley Police Department was contacted a short time later by the Tucson Police Department. A man had crawled out of the trunk through a speaker hole. Tucson police used a crowbar to open the trunk and found another man inside. Both men were in good health and were turned over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
10 A theft was reported at 7:32 a.m. July 14 in the 14500 block of North Quiet Rain Drive. The homeowner told police someone took a refrigerator and wine cellar. There were no signs of forced entry.
11 Found property was turned in at 11:09 a.m. July 13 at the Oro Valley Police Department, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive. A woman said she saw a man put his wallet on top of a gasoline pump at a nearby station. She told police he left it there when he drove away. Police contacted the owner. He came to the police station and said everything was still in his wallet.
