Empire science teacher to attend BioME program
A science teacher at Empire High School was selected to participate in the BioME program at the University of Arizona.
Michael Frank was selected from a pool of participants around the city to participate in the program, which is sponsored by the National Science Foundation. Frank attended a BioME Summer Institute at UA in June.
The program was created to increase the links between academic and graduate science, and kindergarten through 12th-grade science education.
School district looking for bus drivers
The Vail School District is hiring bus drivers for the 2007-08 school year.
The starting hourly rate is between $10.61 and $11.67, depending on experience. Part-time and full-time positions are available.

Steele School to host back-to-school fair
The Steele School at Saguaro Christian Church, 8302 E. Broadway, will host a back-to-school fair at 9 a.m. Aug. 4.
The Tucson Police Department will be on hand to provide school supplies, games, hot dogs and drinks along with information about health insurance and student identification cards.

Sahuarita
Elementary, middle schools have dress code
All elementary and middle schools in the Sahuarita Unified School District enforce a mandatory dress code.
Students must wear shirts that are either solid white, navy or light blue, tan or gray. The shirts must have sleeves and a collar, and must be tucked in or no longer than a student's fingertips when untucked.
Pants, shorts and skirts must be tan, navy blue, white or gray. Skirts and dresses must be longer than the students' fingertips when their arms are dropped at their sides. Shorts must be longer than students' thumbs when their arms are at their sides.
The first day of school is Aug. 7.
