If you've ever decorated a nursery, then you'll understand how joy over a new baby can quickly turn to extreme misery and despair.

Stenciling, in particular, is hard, hard work. Those peelable stencils make life so much easier. What's even better, you can come up with your own custom sayings — and even pick a color and font that will match the décor.

All you have to do is unroll the long paper strip that has your saying on it, tape it up and rub the enclosed squeegee over the words. You can buy ready-made sayings such as "The Time Out Corner" ($25) and "Sweet Dreams" ($33).

Prices for custom sayings vary, but they average about $2.50 per letter in the 6-inch size.

Of course, you don't have to limit yourself to a nursery. Your custom saying can perk up any part of the house.
