A 2-year-old girl nearly drowned Tuesday evening at an East Side home when she slipped past adults and made her way into a pool.
The girl, who reportedly wasn't in the water for more than a minute, is stable after her father performed CPR, causing her to regain consciousness, an official said.
The near-drowning occurred at a home in the 900 block of South Marvin Avenue, near South Kolb Road and East 22nd Street, about 5:30 p.m., said Battalion Chief Paul McDonough, a Tucson Fire Department spokesman.
There were other children swimming in the in-ground pool when an adult went to get towels for them. It was at that time the girl got into the water.
She was pulled from the pool immediately but was unconscious, so her father began performing CPR, McDonough said.
When paramedics examined the girl, she was lethargic and had "wet-sounding lungs," McDonough said.
She was taken to a hospital, where she was stable Tuesday night, he said.
