Those in search of a massage, Botox injections or laser skin treatments have a new place to be pampered.
Tuscany MedSpa celebrated its grand opening last month at 7620 N. Hartman Lane in Marana.
Chemical peels, microdermabrasion, laser skin rejuvenation and tattoo removal are among the cosmetic services on Tuscany's menu.
The business also offers acupuncture, massage therapy and a form of hormone replacement therapy called bio-identical hormone treatment, used to treat symptoms associated with aging and menopause.
Medical Director Laura Miller said Tuscany is trying to stand out from other spas by offering services that focus on internal health, as well as cosmetic services, and by always having a physician on site.
"We want people to feel good about themselves on the inside as well as the outside," said 28-year-old Miller, who has a doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe. "Women are so busy nowadays with family and working; it's a chance for them to pamper themselves."
While women are expected to be a large part of Tuscany's clientele, men are also welcome, Miller said.
The business owners, Annette and Chris Jones, have also owned nearby Quanta Technologies, a medical equipment distribution company, for the past 14 years.
They decided to open a medspa partly to provide a training and demonstration site for the aesthetic lasers sold by their distribution company, Annette Jones said.
The medspa uses lasers for a variety of services, including hair removal, tattoo removal, wart and mole removal, facial skin rejuvenation and the treatment of acne, rosacea and varicose or facial veins.
Makeup and skin-care products are also available for purchase at Tuscany.
Jones said the business was named Tuscany MedSpa and given its Italian-themed décor to create the feeling of an intimate and exotic "escape from reality."
