We've been seduced by metal statuary, especially when it's small enough to fit in the palm of our hand. Rather than let them languish in our garden or as the finishing touch for a bedside still life, we're finding new ways to re-purpose some of our favorites.
● A cast-iron key holder frog from New Creative sits stoically in an arrangement of tropical leaves and lilies. $6.25, Fancy This, fancythisatgrapevine.com.
● A detailed bronze bird adds a whimsical touch to the breadbasket. Companion birds are offered in a variety of poses. $28, Domain XCIV, Fort Worth, Texas, 1-817-336-1994.
● Jan Barboglio's hand-cast Wee mouse makes a statement when used as an accent piece on a cheese platter. $58, Domain XCIV, Fort Worth, Texas, 1-817-336-1994.
