What's your take on the events that have followed the recent comments made by radio personality Don Imus
?
"I think what they did was right. When something bad happens, you always have to make sure you address it directly or it'll keep happening and then other people will think that's cool or think that it's something that's just going to happen. We need to stop racism by stopping racial slurs."
Sarah Katvala, 16, sophomore
"I think what they are doing is right, because if you don't address it, then it's not going to make any difference. A lot of people think it's OK to use racial slurs because other people do. And if you can prove that it's not right and people do get offended by it, then you'll make a difference."
Audrie Coker, 16, sophomore
"I think what he said was wrong, and I agree with the way they took care of it. It can keep happening if nothing's done, if there's no consequence. Maybe now that there has been some consequence he'll learn from his actions, which he didn't in the past. If people don't like what you say, if it makes a lot of people mad, then they won't watch the show, and that's bad for their business, so I understand why the sponsors would pull out."
Kyle Downey, 16, junior
"I think it's right that he lost his job and they pulled the show. Doing something about it by cutting off his show shows that it's not right because racial slurs are wrong. When you don't do something about it, people are going to continue doing it and younger generations are going to think it's OK to do it."
Elissia Ballesteros, 17, junior
