McFarlin joins KUAT to direct development
Cynthia McFarlin has joined the KUAT Communications Group as director of development and community relations. McFarlin was most recently the director of development for St. Philip's in the Hills Episcopal Church.
Cable magazine dubs Doris influential
Cable World Magazine has recognized Tucson's Anne Doris, vice president and system manager of Cox Southern Arizona, in its annual list of the most influential members of minorities in cable. Doris joined the cable television industry in 1988 and has held several marketing and programming management positions since.
Marum will head expanded operations
Wood/Patel, a full-service civil engineering firm, has announced that it has placed Vice President Patrick W. Marum in charge of its newly expanded Tucson operations. Marum will be responsible for managing the office and will also act as senior engineer.
Doug Bowers to lead 4 states' development
Guitars in the Classroom, a nonprofit educational organization headquartered in California, has named Doug Bowers of Tucson to the position of Southwest regional director. Bowers will be responsible for the program's development in Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico and Texas. In the past year, the program has taught over 150 of Tucson's teachers to play and sing with their students.
Retirement community promotes Applegate
The management of Splendido has announced the promotion of Monnie Applegate to director of resident services. Applegate will oversee transportation, resident activities, concierge services, and the spa and fitness center for the Continuing Care Retirement Community. Since 2004, Applegate served as the director of community relations.
Chojnacki gets award, praise from Schwab
Kathy Chojnacki of Raskob Kambourian Financial Advisors received the Client Partnership award by Schwab Institution at a recent awards banquet. Chojnacki was praised as one of the "most competent, professional and easy-to-work with office managers served by Schwab's western region."
Handi-Dogs has new officers, directors
Handi-Dogs Inc., a nonprofit service-dog training organization has announced its new officers and board members for the 2006-2007 year. The new Handi-Dogs, Inc. officers are Carol Ritter, president; Carol Levine, vice president; Jim Balthaser, secretary and Georgia Hale, treasurer. Ron Borstein and Mike McAuliffe were elected to three-year terms on the Board of Directors. Balthaser and Cynthia Fern, outgoing board president, were re-elected to three-year terms.
Training group announces new board
The Greater Tucson Chapter of the American Society for Training & Development has elected its 2006-2007 Board of Directors. Kory Kogon was named president, Peggy Kelly, vice president of programs, Victor Quiros, vice president of finance and Vicki Palmer as vice president of membership and marketing.
ASBA hires two as others advance
The Arizona Small Business Association's southern region office announced that Karen Irby has joined as sales coordinator and Shaina DePascal was hired as administrative assistant. Charlie O'Dowd was promoted to the position of senior vice president and Suzette Colley was appointed vice president of operations. ASBA is a statewide nonprofit organization that assists Arizona businesses in growth and development.
