A new batch of digital cameras from Canon will hit stores this month.
Canon's PowerShot G7 digital camera, loaded with Canon's newest technology, is expected to sell for $600.
The 10-megapixel compact camera continues the company's strong tradition of PowerShot digital cameras.
The new technology in the G7 is Canon's new DIGIC III image processor. This enables the user to have more of a digital-noise reduction, while shooting at ISO equivalent speed ratings from 80 to as high as 1,600. The high ISO allows users to select faster shutter speeds, significantly reducing camera shake and subject blur during hand-held, low-light photography.
Among the other features in the PowerShot G7 are a video mode with a recording time of up to 31 minutes and a recorder that stores up to two hours of voice memos.
This year is the 10th anniversary of Canon's ELPH brand, and the line has three new digital cameras: the 10.0-megapixel PowerShot SD900 Digital ELPH, the 7.1-megapixel PowerShot SD800 IS Digital ELPH and the 7.1-megapixel PowerShot SD40 Digital ELPH.
The user-friendly cameras have faster response times and a new autofocus system that keeps subjects in focus regardless of where in the frame the subject is. These new Digital ELPH cameras are able to shoot at ISO speed ratings from 80 to 1,600.
A 2.5-inch color screen is packed into the PowerShot SD900, making it easier to preview images and review and maneuver camera menus. The SD900 is about the size of a deck of playing cards and will sell at about $500.
The PowerShot SD800 IS Digital ELPH is the second and newest Digital ELPH model with image stabilization. The image stabilization preserves the quality of a digital image along with the top ISO speed of 1,600, allowing for shooting in low light.
The pocket-size SD800 IS also has a 2.5-inch LCD screen. It's priced at about $400.
The PowerShot SD40 Digital ELPH is the fashion of the line for Canon. The camera is available in four colors: twilight sepia, precious rose, noble blue and olive gray.
The SD40 includes a camera station that serves as a charger and connects for USB 2.0 direct printing and image transferring. There is also a wireless remote to facilitate slide-show displays when showing digital images on a television screen. The SD40 has a 1.8-inch LCD monitor and has an estimated selling price of $350.
