Wine-tasting benefit for Women's Chorus
Fresh from its standing- ovation debut at Carnegie Hall last June, the Southern Arizona Women's Chorus is ready to strut its stuff for its hometown.
Next Friday, the ensemble — formerly the Foothills Women's Chorus — will host "Buckskin and Spanish Lace," a wine-tasting benefit for the nonprofit chorus. The event will take place on the patio at the Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort, 5601 N. Hacienda del Sol Road, off East Sunrise Drive.
The patio of Hacienda del Sol will not be quite as breathtaking as the storied Carnegie Hall or the love the ladies felt on that Sunday evening in June, but there will be plenty of singing, flamenco music courtesy of Charles King, wine and an array of tapas to nibble.
The event kicks off at 6 p.m. Tickets are $100 for a couple, $50 per person, with half the price tax-deductible. Call 404-3148 or go online to www.foothills womenschorus.org.

Devil Music Ensemble to accompany silent film
It's classic horror cinema with a twist with the Devil Music Ensemble at the Rialto Theatre on Sunday.
The three Boston-based musicians have spent the last seven years pairing original compositions with silent films from the past century.
Last time the ensemble swung through Tucson, it accompanied the 1922 F.W. Murnau production "Nosferatu."
This time around, it will provide the music for Robert Louis Stevenson's story-turned-movie, "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" (1920), starring screen and stage icon John Barrymore.
The movie starts at 8 p.m., and admission is $11 in advance and $13 the day of the show through the Rialto box office, 740-1000.

Green Valley group starting concert season
The Green Valley Concert Association kicks off its 2006-07 season today with violinist Mark Rush and pianist Tannis Gibson.
Association organizers call the married couple a dynamic duo — the Rush-Gibson Duo is known for its expressive play and varied repertoire, and the two know each other's musical inclinations instinctively.
When they aren't teaching at the University of Arizona, they are honing their skills as soloists, recitalists and in-demand accompanists.
Tonight, they will play a program that includes works by Mozart, William Bolcom, Henry Cowell and Aaron Copeland.
Tickets for the 7:30 p.m. performance at Valley Presbyterian Church, 2800 S. Camino del Sol, are $10; students get in free. 1-520-648-5961, or visit www.gvconcertassociation.org.

Gay Men's Chorus to join Phoenix group in tribute
Tucson's Reveille Gay Men's Chorus is teaming up tonight with the Phoenix Metropolitan Men's Chorus to salute their favorite divas.
"Diva by Diva," billed as a "fabulous evening of wonderful music and outrageous laughter" by Reveille's director, Linus Lerner, tips its hat to a host of female singers whose last names are utterly unnecessary in identifying them: Barbra, Judy, Bette, Madonna, and Cher among them.
Tonight's concert, presented by Reveille Gay Men's Chorus and Desert Voices for the Pride in the Desert, begins at 8 at the Historic Y, 300 E. University Blvd. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and students. For more information, visit www.reveillegmc.com or call 304-1758.
