Can you imagine what life would be like if your bag could charge your cell phone for you?
You don't have to.
Reware, a company that tries to spotlight renewable energy in any possible form, has created a lifestyle product line of solar-powered, waterproof messenger bags and backpacks.
They're called the Juice Bags Environmentally Sustainable Series, and they charge cell phones, iPods and other electronic devices by using sunlight, creating a power of seven watts.
The technology used to make these bags resulted from research at government laboratories. The bags use what is known as a thin-film solar panel, a device made of 52 micro-solar cells that produce energy using only sunshine. The bags are also made with a fabric that was created by using eight recycled soda bottles that are shredded and woven into a fabric.
So the bags are environmentally friendly, funky, functional fashion pieces.
Check out the bags, which run from $210 to $275, at www.rewarestore.com.
