● Local business owner Jan Aalberts was recently appointed chairwoman of the National President's Assembly by the National Association of Women Business Owners. Aalberts is the outgoing president of NAWBO's Tucson chapter and owner of Sky House, a personal and business coaching firm. The announcement was made earlier this month at NAWBO's national conference in San Francisco. As chairwoman, she will oversee the 80-plus chartered chapter presidents and presidents-elect.
● The ¡Vamos a Tucson! Partners invite local businesses to two upcoming trade shows in Chihuahua, Mexico. From July 19 to July 22, representatives from the Metropolitan Tucson Convention & Visitors Bureau will accompany business owners on the three-day trip to Chihuahua and Ciudad Juarez to trade shows targeting tourists, shoppers, businessmen, travel agents, associations and chambers. ● U.S. gasoline prices declined in the past two weeks, but hardly enough to provide relief for summer travelers, a national survey released Sunday showed.
The average price for self-serve regular gas on Friday was down 4.5 cents to $2.89 a gallon, according to the Lundberg Survey of 7,000 gas stations across the country. The average mid-grade price was $2.99 a gallon while premium ran $3.09.
Charleston, S.C., had the lowest average price of gas in the United States, selling at $2.61 a gallon. The highest average price, $3.26 per gallon, was in Honolulu.
