MARANA
1 A resident at the Springs at Continental Ranch apartments, 7901 N. Cortaro Road, called police at 8:33 p.m. March 4 to report a confrontation with another resident. He told police the following: He was walking through the complex when another resident confronted him. The man called him a homeless person and told him to leave. The resident was chased and threatened but flagged down a car in the parking lot. The driver called 911 and the man stopped chasing him.
2 Two men ran into a cotton field after a traffic stop at 8:13 p.m. March 4 near West Avra Valley and North Sandario roads. The officer pulled the car over because the driver failed to stop at a stop sign. Police searched the area but were unable to find the men.
3 A 44-year-old man was cited and released on suspicion of unlawful possession of marijuana at 3:24 p.m. March 4 in the 12700 block of North Morgan Drive. According to the report, the man was driving a homemade golf-cart-type vehicle that had no windshield and pulled into an alley. He ran behind a house and was caught by police. Officers found a small bag of marijuana in a large trash can in the back of the unfenced property. The man admitted the marijuana belonged to him.
4 An employee at Coca-Cola Bottling Co., 5551 W. Coca-Cola Place, called police at 1:09 p.m. March 3 to report suspicious found property. She said another employee who checks cars in the back parking lot found a suspicious item on the front passenger seat of a car that belonged to a temporary employee. According to the report, it was a white envelope containing cocaine. She said she didn't want to file charges and gave the cocaine to police.
5 A homeowner in the 8900 block of North Lawndale Drive called police at 12:44 p.m. March 3 to report suspicious mail. He said he and his wife had returned after a week out of town. He told police they were going through the mail and found an envelope containing three marijuana cigarettes. He said someone had written his name on the envelope and left it in his mailbox. The marijuana was turned over to police.
PIMA COUNTY
6 Fraud was reported at 8:33 p.m. March 1 in the 4300 block of North Paseo Rancho. A resident told deputies someone charged $2,401.98 on her Visa card. She said the unauthorized charge was made in Brazil in February. She told deputies the account has been closed.
7 A burglary was reported at 10:54 p.m. March 1 in the 2800 block of West Carnauba Street. A resident told deputies he was out at 10:50 p.m. when his neighbor contacted him and said his sliding glass door was open. There were pry marks on the door. A television set, an X-box and jewelry valued at more than $6,400 were taken.
8 A resident in the 1800 block of West Misty Hollow Lane called the Sheriff's Department at 2:43 p.m. Feb. 28 to report fraud. She told deputies the following: Her husband died last October. In the last two weeks, someone has applied for several credit cards using his name. She has received calls about bogus checks in her husband's name written at Pep Boys and Safeway. She called the bank that was on the checks and was told the account didn't exist. A man called and said he sold a rug for $2,000 in February and received a check with her husband's name on it for payment. She told him her husband died and they never had an account with the bank on which the check was written.
9 A 1994 Jeep Cherokee was reported stolen at 2:45 a.m. Feb. 27 in the 3000 block of West Palm Vista Street. The owner told deputies his brother-in-law saw the vehicle backing out of his driveway at 2:25 a.m. He said he went outside to check and the vehicle was gone. He told deputies his wife's purse and keys were stolen a month ago.
10 Vandalism was reported at a construction site near West Rudasill and North Shannon roads at 7:51 a.m. Feb. 27. A construction worker told deputies someone sprayed pink paint on two tractors. A window and front windshield were broken on one of the tractors.
ORO VALLEY
11 A resident in the 8200 block of North Oracle Road called police at 6:12 p.m. March 8 to report an unwanted person at a homeowner's association meeting. He told police one of the homeowners brought her attorney, and he was interrupting the meeting by asking questions. The resident represented by the attorney said she brought him to ask questions on her behalf. The officer pointed out that it was an open meeting and as a representative of a homeowner, the attorney was allowed to attend.
12 A resident at Saddle Ridge Apartments, 450 W. Cool Drive, called police at 6:12 p.m. March 6 to report fraud. She said she was in the process of signing up for medical insurance for her children. She told police an employee called and asked if her son was still working at the Super 8 Motel. She told them her son is 11 years old and doesn't work. She said the employee advised her to make a police report and notify the Social Security Administration.
13 A woman dumped 110 bullets at the front door of the Oro Valley Police Department, 11000 N. La Cañada Drive, at 10:55 a.m. March 5. According to the report, she refused to wait for a police officer. The bullets were collected and will be destroyed.
14 Graffiti was reported at 11:49 a.m. March 5 in the 7700 block of North Northern Avenue. A homeowner told police someone spray-painted the front wall of her residence.
15 Police responded to a report of an automobile accident near North First Avenue and East La Reserve Drive at 3:15 p.m. March 2 but instead found a van stuck in the sand. A man standing by the van said the driver parked off the street because he had to urinate. He left to get equipment to get the van out. Police searched the van and found a set of master keys, several duffel bags filled with women's clothing and shoes, a small bag containing photographs of a woman, a taped-up tin container with a white, powdery substance on the tape, a syringe and $98 in cash. There was no registration to prove who owned the van. It was towed away. No one was cited.
