Magistrate Bernal gets ABA post

Tucson City Court Magistrate Margarita Bernal has been elected secretary of the specialized-court section of the judicial division of the American Bar Association.
Bernal is the first Tucson City Court magistrate and the first Hispanic from Arizona to be elected to this position, which will ultimately lead to her becoming the chair-elect.
From there she will move into the position of conference chair of the specialized-court section for a term commencing 2008-2009.
The section deals with issues that affect specialized courts such as traffic, probate and juvenile. The section also conducts training for judges and monitors policy issues.
Bernal has been an active member of the American Bar Association since 2001.
