Honoring 'Amadeus & Albert'

Tucson, Arizona | Published: 02.23.2006
The second annual Arizona Cultural Forum will turn its attention to the genius of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and that of Albert Einstein.
This year marks the 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth and the 100th anniversary of the publication of Einstein's most famous scientific papers.
"Amadeus & Albert," sponsored in part by the Arizona Humanities Council, the Tucson Pima Arts Council and the Arizona Commission on the Arts, features noted regional and national scholars and artists in informative talks, panel discussions and performances. The idea is to create a free flow of ideas between the guests and the audience.
Participants include cellist and playwright Harry Clark and pianist Sanda Schuldmann, co-directors of Chamber Music PLUS Southwest; arts and media writer James Reel; University of Arizona professor emeritus of physics William S. Bickel; Thomas Cockrell, UA director of orchestral studies; actor William Killian; actor/educator Paul Fisher; glass harmonicist Lynn Drye; UA organ professor Pamela Decker; and Joel Revzen, Arizona Opera's artistic director.
Other sponsors include the Arizona Senior Academy, UA School of Music and Dance, KUAT-FM and Chamber Music PLUS Southwest.
The forum runs Friday and Sunday at the Arizona Senior Academy, 13701 E. Old Spanish Trail, and Saturday at St. Philip's Episcopal Church, 4440 N. Campbell Ave. Admission is free, but seating is limited.
