A very unusual online auction

What would a summer weekend on Martha's Vineyard water-skiing with the Kennedys be like? Fishing with fashion designer Kenneth Cole? A game of poker with "Seinfeld" co-creator Larry David? This and other seemingly priceless experiences went on sale Thursday in an online auction to benefit the Robert F. Kennedy Memorial, a human rights group named for the former U.S. senator and attorney general. His widow, Ethel Kennedy, and other family members organized the auction that will run through Dec. 16 on the Charity Folks Web site. Fans of the popular ABC comedy "Desperate Housewives" can bid for a walk-on role on Wisteria Lane. The winning bidder on another item gets to have Kennedy-by-marriage (to Maria Shriver) and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger reprise his role as the Terminator and say "Hasta la vista, baby" on a telephone voice mail greeting. Sports fans can play golf with NFL Hall of Famer Frank Gifford or watch a baseball game from the Red Sox dugout at Fenway Park. The auction also includes limited-edition prints of original paintings by Massachusetts Sen. Edward M. Kennedy and signed books by Caroline Kennedy. History buffs can try to secure a set of acceptance speeches given and signed by Nobel laureates including Lech Walesa, F.W. de Klerk and Guatemalan peace activist Rigoberta Menchu. Kerry Kennedy, a daughter of Robert Kennedy, said there's no fund-raising goal for the auction, but the family hopes the "once-in-a-lifetime" adventures will bring more attention to the human rights organization. "Each one is a unique opportunity," she said. "None of these are things you can buy online or in a store someplace. They are really once-in-a-lifetime opportunities." Online:
