MARANA
1 Personal property valued at $2,000 was reported stolen at 2:37 p.m. Nov. 13 from the Orange Grove Village apartments, 3500 W. Orange Grove Road. A resident told police that he accidentally left his keys in the front door the previous night. He said someone used them to get into his car and his truck. He said he thought someone took the car for a ride because items were moved around. A makeup bag, a pair of sunglasses, a wallet and everything in the glove box were taken from the car. Two woofer speakers, two amplifiers and 90 compact discs were taken from the truck.
2 Personal property valued at $1,000 was reported stolen from a storage unit at 10:37 a.m. Nov. 11 at U-Haul, 4040 W. Ina Road. The owner said several family members helped her move belongings into the storage unit two weeks ago. She said that when she returned she discovered a sofa, a toolbox, several tools and a computer hard drive had been taken. She told police that several family members had keys to the unit. There were no signs of forced entry.
3 A clerk at Quik Mart, 4479 W. Ina Road, called police at 11:52 p.m. Nov. 9 to report a theft. He said a man came into the store and asked for a carton of cigarettes. He told police he put the carton on the counter and the man asked if he could open it. When the clerk said no, the man grabbed the carton and drove away. The cost of the carton was $38.59.
4 A 2001 Ford Expedition was reported broken into at 6:39 a.m. Nov. 9 at The Springs at Silver Bell apartments, 7759 N. Silverbell Road. According to the police report, someone cut a hole in the plastic grill, lifted the hood, cut the wires on the battery and disarmed the alarm. The driver's-side door handle had pry marks. A compact-disc case with 200 CDs, a stereo speaker, two folding chairs and a pair of sunglasses, valued at more than $2,300 total, were taken.
PIMA COUNTY
5 A theft was reported at a fenced-in radio tower site in the 2400 block of West Zinnia Avenue at 9:16 a.m. Nov. 17. The chief engineer for Journal Broadcast Group said someone took 20 sections of copper pipe and a transmission line valued at $13,000. He told deputies someone must have climbed over the razor wire at the top of the fence to get inside. There were no signs of forced entry.
6 A burglary was reported in the 5500 block of North Baybrook Road at 2:44 p.m. Nov. 17. A resident said the dogs were barking frantically and the rear sliding glass door was open when he got home. According to the police report, the house was ransacked. A PlayStation 2, a GameCube, several games, a cellular phone, two DVD players, a digital camera and an MP3 player were taken.
7 An attempted car theft was reported at Sun River Apartments, 5069 N. Sunriver Circle, at 5:34 p.m. Nov. 17. The owner said she saw a man messing with the door lock and yelled at him to get away from her car. She told deputies he got into a Dodge Neon and drove away.
8 A Blackjack Pizza employee called the Sheriff's Department at 12:55 a.m. Nov. 17 to report an assault near West Orange Grove Road and North Camino de la Tierra. He said the driver in the car next to him had a gun in his right hand. He said the man didn't point the gun at him but tried to run him off the road.
9 A glass table was reported stolen at 12:06 a.m. Nov. 12 in the 7100 block of North North Light Drive. The owner told deputies the table was outside by her front door.
ORO VALLEY
10 An airplane accident was reported at 5:42 p.m. Nov. 20 at La Cholla Airpark, 1777 W. Cessna Way. Police found a small airplane halfway off the runway with collapsed landing gear and damaged wings. The pilot said he was on approach when the engine started to sputter. According to the report, the pilot and his two passengers were uninjured.
11 A resident in the 8800 block of North Riviera Drive called police at 1:28 a.m. Nov. 20 to report suspicious activity. He said he found a set of keys in the front door lock when he and his wife returned home. He told police he didn't know who owns the keys. According to the report, the house was locked and nothing appeared to be stolen.
12 A man reported fraud at 2:39 p.m. Nov. 18. He said he left his debit card at Circle K, 8788 N. Oracle Road, on Nov. 14. He told police that charges totaling more than $230 were made over several days at the store.
13 A homeowner called police at 7:54 p.m. Nov. 17 after he broke a gas line while digging in his back yard in the 0-100 block of West Blackstone Road. Police and the Golder Ranch Fire District evacuated the area. Southwest Gas repaired the gas line. The man told police he dug the 12-foot hole to work on his sewer line. An officer told him not to work on his sewer line for the rest of the night.
14 A report of gunshots led police to the Rock Ridge Apartments, 10333 N. Oracle Road, at 4:26 p.m. Nov. 16. Police found six teenage boys in a nearby wash making homemade bombs. All the boys were released to their parents.
