Remote Controlled: Trainer on 'Biggest Loser' in Phoenixarizona daily star
Tucson, Arizona | Published: 04.13.2008
You can catch fitness trainer Bob Harper on the season finale of "The Biggest Loser" Tuesday night, or you can meet him in person when he comes to the Phoenix area on Friday.
Harper will be at the Changing Hands Bookstore in Tempe promoting his new book, "Are You Ready! Take Charge, Lose Weight, Get in Shape and Change Your Life Forever."
The exercise taskmaster has become a big deal since first appearing on Season One of "The Biggest Loser" in 2004.
He gave his thoughts on who he thought should win the latest season of the show in a recent telephone interview with the Star.
"Since we've had men win every season, this would be a season that I can easily see a woman finally winning the show," he said. "I think Ali (Vincent) has shown such dedication. Wow, it would be great to see Ali win this thing."
Harper will be at Changing Hands, 6428 S. McClintock Drive, at 6 p.m.

A&E's "The First 48" and its Tucson ties
Derreck Burruss, a 16-year-old who was shot and killed in early January near the Park Place mall, will be the subject of the next episode of "The First 48" on A&E.
The show follows detectives from cities across the country as they investigate murders. It is based on the theory that the first 48 hours are the most critical in any criminal investigation.
Granada Productions, the company that puts together the series for A&E, first came to Tucson in November. It followed homicide detectives on a case involving the shooting death of a 26-year-old Tucson man. That episode aired on April 3.
According to the Tucson Police Department, a film crew is still in town. For better or worse, we might be in a regular "First 48" rotation with cities like Miami, Memphis, Tenn., and Detroit.
The next episode of "The First 48" airs at 9 p.m. Thursday.

More strike-delayed episodes now ready
Many of the big broadcast and cable networks are geared up and ready to air the remaining episodes of their embattled post-writers-strike seasons.
Last week saw the return of the NBC comedy "30 Rock," the longtime hospital drama "ER" and the Steve Carell series, "The Office."
Tonight, we have "Desperate Housewives." "Bones" returns Monday, and "Law and Order: SVU" as well as the Discovery Channel's "Deadliest Catch" both air Tuesday night.
Among the shows left to debut after this week: "Brothers and Sisters" (April 20), The CW's "Gossip Girl" (April 21), "Grey's Anatomy" (April 24), "Ugly Betty" (April 24), "Lost" (April 24) and "House" (April 28).
